Manchester British Legion host Mozzies at ANZAC service
Sunday 8th May 2011 - The Manchester British Legion kindly invited the Manchester Mosquitoes ARFC along to their ceremony commemorating the servicemen and women who fought and lost their lives at the Battle of Gallipoli on the 25th April 1915. An intimate service was held at the Southern Cemetery, Manchester where veterans, family and friends could pay their respects to a legacy that is special to all Australians and Allied nationals alike. One sentence in particular sums up the sacrifice of the Anzacs: "They gave up their tomorrow for our today". Drinks followed at the Northenden Social Club. It was a fantastic opportunity for the Mozzies to establish links with the Manchester British Legion and we thank them for their warm welcome.
Two Mozzies selected in Great Britain International Cup Squad
Mozzies Matthew Kilheeny and Alasdair Lindop have been selected for the Great Britian squad that will compete in the Aussie Rules 2011 International Cup. The tournament will be held in Sydney and Melbourne during August this year. More information can be found in the Press Release and at World Footy News.
Mozzies finish runners up in Hull Carnival
In beautiful weather, the Mozzies took the opportunity to give the new look squad a first hit out for 2011, battling hard and eventually finishing runners up to winners Birmingham Bears. Read the full tournament report here.
Pre-season Carnival in Hull - Saturday 16th April 2011
The Mozzies will be travelling to Hull to compete in what should be a cracking pre-season tournament, hosted by CNW League Social team, the Hull Mariners. Teams are expected from around the UK and possibly Europe. Further details will follow shortly!
Mozzies selected for Great Britain
Fresh from the European Championships in Denmark, where they helped Great Britain reach 4th place, Mozzies Matthew Kilheeny and Alasdair Lindop have again been selected in the Great Britain Bulldogs squad to play Ireland. The game will be played in Dublin on April 2nd 2011.
Undefeated Mozzies!
Manchester Mosquitoes are the Central and North West League Premiers 2010! The Mozzies rounded off a perfect season with a 17 point victory over Nottingham in the Grand Final.
