Manchester Mosquitoes are on the BBC! North West Tonight will be doing a feature on our beloved Mozzies this Friday. Here is the article which is already on the site, however rememeber to tune into the BBC1 tomorrow night http://news.bbc.co.uk/local/manchester/hi/people_and_places/newsid_8842000/8842501.stm

Mozzie Make Grand Final!

After an extremely sucessful season under the careful guidance of coach Matt Shelton, the undefeated Mozzies will be taking on our old rivals Nottingham in the Grand Final.

As you can imagine its a tense week and we are all gearing up for the ultimate show down. The final squad selection is going to be announced after training on Thursday (yes, we have selections now due to an abundance of players!) and the swarm will be heading to Wolverhampton to face our old foes at 2.30pm.

I would ask all of you to cast a thought towards the Mozzies on Saturday. If you're part of the facebook group throw up a comment of support - Im sure the boys will appreciate it.

Its the culmination of a hard season -  but also the culmination of five years of persistance and is a credit to all who have ever pulled on a jersey for the Mozzies.

Go Mozzies!

Mozzie Undefeated

Despite a number of key players being unavailable through injury or personal reasons the team were keen to maintain their undefeated record this season, even though their position in the final being already assured. For Huddersfield the game was a must-win if they were to make the final but Manchester took the first advantage of the day by winning the toss and kicking with the breeze in the opening quarter. Manchester managed to maintain there undeafeted season running out winners by 14 points.

Change to Training Time

We have just three training sessions remaining before Round One on May 8th. I expect all to get to training, unless otherwise committed and you have let me know.

Training this week will start at the slightly later time of 7:00pm on Thursday to accommodate those of you who are working late. I will still be aiming to arrive at 6:15pm, and those of you who can make it down early can join me for some (much needed) goal kicking practice if you wish.

I'm also pleased to announce that this Thursday will be the inaugural 'Chilli-thon' as resident Master Chef Angie will provide a Chilli dinner for anyone interested after training, at a very reasonable price! You can't argue with that.

Most importantly, please bring a pair of running shoes as well as footy boots with you this week. You'll find out why! ;)

Coach's Carnival Roundup

Mozzies,

First of all, congratulations to all who played on Saturday for a commendable performance in finishing third overall in the tournament!

For the second year running, we were only a matter of three goals off winning the title, and the wins we did have were comprehensive and truly inspiring team efforts. A full match report will be posted on the website, along with photos by the end of the week. It's quite easy not to name individuals as every player was instrumental on the day.

All up, it was a valuable pre-season event, some very positive aspects, as well as highlighting the gaps we need to close.

Most importantly a big thank you goes to Kat for organising such a successful event, and to all the helpers on the day.

Moving forward, we now have just four weeks to prepare for the start of the season. As discussed on the ground at the end of the last game, it's fair to say I hate losing. I'm pretty certain I'm not alone there either. The good news is we can still do something about preparing ourselves as best we individually can to compete this season, which promises to be the most intensive season in the history of the the club.

Thursday training will therefore continue to be a combination of conditioning and skills, as it is apparent that fitness is one of our major concerns. Please make every effort to get down to training.

Season 2010 is just around the corner. Let's make sure we're there on Grand Final day.

The Day was a massive success for the club, even if the team finished 3rd overall, by 2 narrow defeats. The day was brilliantly organised and a massive thank you has to go to our very own club president Kat for making the day such a smooth running event, and of course for her ability to organise the weather for us as well!
